‪A visit my Swiss wife and I had planned many years ago‬
יוני 2019
‪We were very pleased everywhere we visited in Normandie. The food and wines were excellent and one day we would like to return. We stayed at Hôtel d'Argouges and like it very much. On the wall in the foyer was a black & white picture of an American Sherman Tank...I studied it closely each building & every window knowing it was parked on the street in front of the hotel - walking outside the street scene matched perfectly with the photo on the wall taken in 1944...the observation confirmed the peace held & Bayeux was spared the fighting that raged in 1944!

The trip to Pointe duHauc was chilling...the stark scars of battle dots the landscape and the main viewing turret was like the movie...As a young teenager, I had met General Earl Rudder who was the Commander of the 2nd Ranger Batallion that took this hunk of Rock from the Allemande...many of the craters were made by the Battleship Texas with her 14-inch guns - I have been on Board of that Battle Wagon many times as a visitor...it was moored on the Houston Ship Channel since the late forties at the San Jacinto Battlegrounds...she is in dry dock and will be returned to viewing status in about 2yrs...In Texas we don't through anything of value away!‬

‪Museum‬
ינו׳ 2020
‪The visitor center doubles as a museum for the Normandy D-Day invasion. We went to the visitor center before heading into the cemetery itself. It was free to enter.
the top area had a really nice view of the beach with a map on the outside area. There is a lower floor which has most of the displays. There was quite a bit of information and history there. After walking through the museum you exit to the garden. It wasn't very big but had quite a lot to see including videos. It was interesting to learn about the area and the whole invasion.
They stop entry about 30 minutes before they close.‬

‪Beautiful place!‬
יולי 2019
‪What an incredible experience this visitors center is...just absolutely beautiful and educational.....well thought out, landscaped and presented to the memory of so many who lost their lives...we were there on a gorgeous July afternoon and the grasses were blowing in the breeze and if you I not know what had transpired years ago one would think were just walking up to any helpful visitors center but one beyond the building you get a glimpse of the ocean....so powerful to see such calm and how such violence and bloodshed had occurred and lives lost.years ago on those beaches...very sobering to see in person what one has read about or seen on the news.‬

‪A must visit.‬

‪A very good overview of the events and the soldiers who particiaped in the invasion.
There were "personal" stories, equipment and videos that made the D Day invasion not just a story in a history book. If the invasion and the sacrific of lives had not happened, who knows how the war would have progressed.‬

‪Have read about this monument for several years. It is almost beyond words to explain the quite and respect that the American Cemetery has. Highly recommended.‬

‪There are sequrity checks on the way in. This place has free entry, and I must say, better than other museums in the area. I learnt a lot about the landings. Beautiful location.‬

‪Exceptional‬
ספט׳ 2019
‪This is a fantastic museum exhibit that really makes the experience of visiting personal and transports the visitor back in time through the specific experience of each person profiled. This is not an enjoyable visit, but an absolute necessity and should be a required visit due to the current worldwide political climate regarding persecution and tyranny. There is a 15 minute narrated film playing every 15 minutes that brought the audience to tears.‬

‪Part of the American Cemetery‬
אוג׳ 2019
‪You will need to stand in line to get in and scan any bags you have with you. If you don't have a bag you can move thru the line quicker. Bathrooms inside and outside that are large. Very interesting film along with photographs with descriptions.‬

‪Not a visitors center - a great museum exhibition‬
חברים • יוני 2019
‪The visitors center of the American War Cemetary was built already in 2007.
You'll have to pass it (with security scan) to get in to the cemetary grounds.

The center has just been renovated prior to the 75 year jubilée and is more than a reception center. In fact it's a small museum and one of the best in the whole region. Here you can follow the invasion on D-day hour by hour. There's also a film showing more or less continuously.
It's all excellently well made and very pedagogical and comprehensive.
Just before you are about to enter to the cemetary you pass a small section where the names of the fallen are read and some of the many invasion participants' personal lifes are told. Very touching and venerable. Once outside, the garden, the views over the ocean and the path leading up to the burial ground and the famous white crosses are breathtaking.‬
