Coast Redwoods on the Iberian Coast

This small but impressive grove of coast redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens) is so close to the A8 motorway that it would be a shame to miss them. Be aware that you can't turn left into the small parking area but must go a short distance up the road, turn around and come back. It is a short but easy stroll down a wide boardwalk to the grove of several hundred specimens. Take a moment to ponder the fact that they are so far from their natural range but so much at home in these growing conditions.

This is something really fantastic, sequoia trees in Spain! Wonderful stroll through the giants, enjoying the silence and the fresh air. Because of the shade the ground is somewhat wet so make sure you wear proper shoes. Small free parking by the entrance.

Lovely walk in the woods, excellent access for all.

This sequoia plantation just off the motorway outside Cabezon offers the visitor a lovely walk in shaded beauty. The sequoias themselves are particularly impressive, especially at the bottom of the hill. It is equally impressive that the people responsible have considered access for families with young children and for those with physical disabilities - the wooden walkway enables everyone to access the heart of the plantation.
Park up the hill at the designated car park and then walk down to the attraction.

Pure air!

I didn't expect to see sequoia trees in Spain, but voila~!
History tells that the ancient spaniard used to use these trees to build ships.
Very nice place for hiking with pure air, it is not so big area, though.

Interesting and unusual

We stopped here on the way to the beach and enjoyed the shade and magnificent trees. Free parking along the main road, but limited spaces. Interestingly it wasn't signposted despite the good reviews, but using google maps we found it without difficulty. We had a two year old in a pushchair, and although the entrance walkway was a modern wooden structure that made it easy for us, as soon as you enter the forest it is steeply sloping with tracks or steps. Therefore we didn't stay long. I'm sure as adults or with older children you could venture into the trees for much longer. We had hoped to picnic there but due to the shade it was wet underfoot with no benches or seating areas and very little flat ground.

Pleasant walk through a forest of sequoias

The trail passes down the hill through a forest of sequoia pines brought back to Spain from the Americas. The path is flat and well made. A new boardwalk makes the forest accessible for people in wheelchairs. We enjoyed the magnificence of the trees.

A real find on a wet day

We weren't quite sure what to expect but it was a beautiful walk which filled up an hour and 3/4s on a wet day. It was also a great opportunity to walk my boisterous 7 year old who had been cooped up in the camper van. We went well off the beaten track and ended up covered in mud but very happy!

Just a short car ride (maybe 2.5 km)
out of the town you find this beautiful area forested with huge Trees. I felt as if I was in dwarf land as these trees are so high.
There is a boardwalk into the woods, accessible for those with mobility problems I.e wheelchairs etc and Prams leading to a viewing platform. From there you can walk further into the woods via different paths.
Awed by the beauty and serenity.
We went before 10.00 am and no other visitors.

Surprised
I was genuinely surprised that this area contained sequoias reaching into the sky. I had never seen any before so this was a real treat. It is easy to find but kind of hard to get to. Let me explain. The roads are two lane curvy. If you miss the turnoff (not very clear), you have to navigate a u-turn on a curvy road on a hill. Not hard, but concerning. Still, if you want to see the majestic trees, take some time to visit.

El camino que está echo con madera es llano, al finalizar el camino es con pendiente y si llueve resbaladizo. Pero el paseo de madera lo puede hacer una persona con problemas de corazón.

Desearia un poci mas de infirmacion para la visita del bosque de las secueyas.
-Podrian decirme que direccion hay que introducir en el navegador del coche para poder llegar?
-Se necesita algun permiso o solicitud para visitar el bosque?.

-Es la carretera CA-135, saliendo de Cabezón de la Sal en dirección a Comillas, en el margen izquierdo. Si vas desde Cabezón, deberás pasar el bosque de largo y hacer un cambio de sentido unos cientos de metros más adelante. Dependiendo de la afluencia deberás aparcar en un parking cercano a ese cambio de sentido, porque a la entrada del propio bosque solo hay plaza para unos pocos vehículos.
-Ningún permiso, acceso libre y, por lo que yo ví, sin control de ningún tipo.
-La visita depende del tiempo que le quieras dedicar, ya que no hay un circuito o paseo que recorrer, sino que circulas libremente entre las sequoyas y los caminos trazados. Yo creo que nosotros estuvimos allí alrededor de una hora. Hay paneles con información a la entrada y en otros puntos del bosque.
