The paseo runs a few blocks, with various statues and well-trimmed shrubbery in the center. Worth the stroll.

Tacna plays an important role in Peruvian history. This square sees patriotic parades every weekend. Not very big or impressive as other main squares in Peru but very high in Peruvian esteem due to its historical context.

This is where you can walk along the main avenue downtown and visit the Cathedral to see its beautiful colonial arquitecture. Take your time. This is a good place to just chill out walking and enjoy the day in Tacna. You can even seat in the benches while trying the 'Queso Arequipeño', a delicious ice cream typical from Arequip you can buy anywhere in the streets.

Nice city to walk around and strech your legs. You can also enter the cathedral if you enjoy churches and recommend visiting the markets for a fun experience.

One of the few places with interest for the culture and flare of this city. Free WiFi on the street. Lots of people, vendors, the market. Great way, we'll taken care Boulevard.

I'd seen very little positive information about Tacna, so I was pleasantly surprised with my visit. I was there on business for 2 days, and I was walking around the central area visiting optical stores (my business industry). The Paseo Civico was clean, nice flowers, had free WiFi, and made the area very nice. The impressive Cathedral is at one end, then many flowers, palm trees and paths up around a huge arch (like St Louis freedom-arch style) and goes for a few blocks. There were local musicians playing music in the park in what is clearly an effort by the city to keep a nice atmosphere.
Oh, and even at night (around 10-11pm) it was still fine, well-lit and with several visible policemen walking around - felt totally safe walking around.

A long time ago I visited this place and I found it a calm and mandatory place if you like to visit cities around the world. The Arc in the Paseo Civico is a symbol of Independence after Chilean War.

The history of Tacna after the Pacifico war is of resistence to chilean people since they wanted to keep Tacna under their domain. This Paseo Civico shows the peruvian heroes like the Alamo in Texas and every year on august 15, tacneños take the biggest peruvian flag and goes by this Paseo showing that they won.
