I visited this place long way back in 2008 but memory is still alive like fresh. We went there with group of friends 3. We got contact of one local guide we did not had idea where to and how to go. The local guide arranged everything once we reached there. He took us to board Cruz Boat from Rajahmundry Godavari river bank to scenic beauty of hills, we reached one Shiva temple in between Pappi Hills I do not remember the temple name but all cruze boats take you there, that is one tribal village. While returning the Boat dropped us at this sand Island where one side there was river and other side big Hill top. On one instance we got scared because we did not see anyone. But latter local person came and he served us very good snaks like chicken kabab and Indian delicacy onion pakodi and good tea. We refreshed in evening one more big group from Infosys came after that we got relieved that we are not alone. Bomboo cottage is on Sand they provide only Mattress on floor. Next day we went to one local water fall and took bath there that was very good experience. Overall experience was thrilling, it is good if you are going in group you will enjoy a lot.…
Had quite a bit of expectations.... but from the beginning itself we had to face lot of trouble. The Boat which was to start at 10 AM started very late and the kind of accomodation given was very bad with very dirty bedsheets and mattress was hard as rock stinking. The food served was so bad that most of the family fell sick. They need to improve upon their service. The staff were also not friendly ... all together we were left with a bitter experience, added to it on the way back we had to shift all our luggage to another boat in between as there was some issue with some of the passengers, hence we were forced to evacuate to another boat which took lot of time and efforts as we had to shift the luggage once again.
Very good place to visit to see the panoramic view of Papi hills and Godavari river, but needs a lot of improvement in amenities and facilities to tourists. There is No entertainment in 3 to 4 hours boat ride, food is average and there is no wash rooms .. Lets hope in future it will be developed as Alleppy & Kumarakom back water ride in Kerala.
The huts are located at Kolluru, but you need to walk about 200m from the bank to reach them (unlike the photos published in Punnami website). Afternoons get crowded as ten of boats big and small converge on this strip to provide lunch to people. The good thing though is that the views are scenic and very inviting. We did not stay overnight and hence cannot offer comments on the quality of sleep or other facilities in the hut. However, a cursory look at the huts and facilities does not give too much of a comfort feeling not because the facilities are basic, but because they are not maintained well. So, exercise caution.
We have booked our stay through "Punnami toursim" online.Reached the stay by 4 in the evening, the hut allocated to us was good, clean & can accommodate three persons. But when you travel during peak days the huts are to be SHARED.One can truly indulge in nature as there is no mobile network not even a landline too ,kindly inform your beloved ones so that they'll not get panic. You can truly enjoy the serene beauty of Papikondalu during night.Don't forget to carry blankets as the night temperature dips down drastically.Food provided was good.Suggestion for travelers: kindly don't expect a 3*,4* hotel experience from this huts.
