Yes, finally my trip to Sierra Leone got finalized and in mid October i landed at Lungi International Airport. I had done a bit of research and was aware that there is a sea channel to cross before to reach Freetown. So i decided to stay couple of nights near airport. I researched all the properties available in Lungi and found out that Yogi Homestay was perfect. 50 bucks a night was very affordable looking at the amenities they provide and mainly 24 hours electricity as Lungi being airport town dont have electricity at all!! There were few other options but they were more than 140 bucks per night....so ultimately stayed at Yogi homestay which is a beautiful place just about 5 minutes from airport terminal!! Then after i traveled to Bunce Island, Tasso Island, Tokeh Beach, Kent , Banana Island and also explored Kabala....i have a lot to say but please email me on pandyauday@gmail.com for detailed review and cost and do's and donts....cheers

Property that is Most Value for Money and fabulous + truly Excellent, Awesome, Amazing and highly comfortable Stay in Lungi!! I will confidently give 10 out of 10 to this property and especially the host who is very kind and helpful. Don’t even think twice if you really heading to Lungi International Airport. I take this opportunity to write a detailed review to help future travelers to Freetown. When I boarded the flight, I could research from google that Freetown Airport is situated in town of Lungi and its name is also Lungi International Airport. I also found out that the airport is newly constructed and there is almost an 8 nautical mile sea channel to cross before we reach Freetown from Lungi. I was clueless about the means available to cross the sea and mainly the timings of services enabling passengers to cross across. So, I thought it would be wise to find an accommodation in Lungi itself as almost all flights landing in Lungi are late night flights and naturally crossing the sea in night time would be difficult. Thanks to Booking.com, I opened up the app and applied the filters and sorting of my choice and BOOOOM…..trust me there was only one HOMESTAY that fulfilled all my needs and criteria!!.....The name was YOGI HOMESTAY…….My needs were as under: • Should be very near to the new airport (not more than 5 minutes’ drive as I was eager to check in and take a warm shower!!) • Airport Pick up and drop service at Ferry Terminal (of course, I was ready to pay the extra charges for this service but just needed a proper co-ordination from the host) • Should be very affordable as I wanted to just spend a layover night before reaching Freetown. (All other properties in nearby area were charging way too high which was not my budget) • 24 hours’ electricity (Lungi has no Government Electricity for most of the time and all other property options offered only electricity at night time whereas I wanted to work in day time on my laptop so having power during day time was also important for me) • 24 hours running hot water (All other properties in Lungi were running Solar which never gave enough hot water so I wanted a place where proper hot water is running throughout) • Water pressure enough to have a relaxing shower (much needed after a long flight) • 24 hours Air-conditioning, and a bug, cockroach and lizard free Clean and comfortable environment • Assistance for currency changes and other local travels for food and entertainment • In house entertainment facility with blasting music system, disco lights, large TV screen and NETFLIX and AMAZON Prime • 24 hours Security • And above all, wanted a Cool host for chat and knowledge about the Country Immidiately I tried to connect with the host and The host was very professional and he sent me his contact details/WhatsApp number and address for the property which was not difficult to locate because it is just opposite to the Airport Main Gate and it’s behind the OKADA Office which is very famous in the area. And with the help of further information’s provided on website and also exchanging couple of messages on WhatsApp and Booking App, I Cleary figured out that YES, this is the property I need. 100% of my needs under ONE ROOF!! So, I did not waste a single minute and booked the YOGI HOMESTAY for One Night. Airport pick up was so well coordinated and I swiftly reached the Property……WOW!! It was like a HOME away from HOME!! The airport charged me an Airport fees of 25 USD which I could not understand but I paid it as it was Government Order!! But once I cleared this, the taxi was waiting for me to take me to the property!! First, stepping through the lobby, I was immediately struck by the beautiful and friendly reception area. Light, airy and very spacious...very welcoming atmosphere. The staff throughout the hotel were very professional, friendly and extremely helpful. They always greeting and smiling to us. The location of the hotel is great. The room was very spacious and well equipped with all essentials and fantastic view. I opted for a NO MEAL booking but host offered me a wonderful INDIAN cuisine breakfast and Dinner for which I insisted and paid them the charges which they were hesitant to accept but I insisted as it was the taste I wanted!! I enjoyed a lot of Karaoke Singing, Dancing, Music, Movies and web series with the host and trust me all other staff were also participating to the rhythm and danced with me. I was served excellent fruit juice – a perfect blend of Coconut and Lychee…. i never had this blend in my entire life…. My God, it was yummy!! The party went on and on untill midnight!! The host offered me all the necessary assistance and information’s during the stay and provided me a lot of knowledge about the local area. And the most wonderful thing that really stole my heart was that the host was donating 10% of his revenue (based on rates he charges to clients is very low but still he manages to donate!!) to local people as donations/charity for their upliftment and education. And you know what? The guest can cook nice dishes himself even late night if you are hungry. It just took 30 minutes for him to cook a nice Rice & Noodles dish for me at 3 AM early morning!!! The property had a free Wi-Fi which made my work very easy for communication and working on my laptop. While check out, I was left with no USD on my hand as I carried little cash with me assuming that the credit card would work, but trust me it’s difficult to swipe a credit card in entire Lungi Town, but fortunately, the host helped me to set up a bank transfer from my foreign account in 5 minutes (they do accept PAYPAL and XOOM and Afrimoney and Orange Money as well) and Check out and payment was completed very efficiently and I was dropped at the Ferry Terminal. While leaving, I already made up my mind to come back here while returning!! I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to the all future tourists who want to go to lungi. Will be back to this place soon...!!! The most important thing is compare to others is that ...this facility is providing Free Internet 24 hrs., AC, sufficient lighting and food and transport services available round the clock. Room rates are 50% less than surrounding motels of the similar standards. There are other hotel/guesthouse options nearby, but really, security is a concerns in almost all of them, whereas at YOGI HOMESTAY, you are fully secured. The room rates Approximate $60 + Or -, The breakfast is another around 5 USD, the lunch/dinner is around 10 to 15 USD based on the food we choose and Taxi from Airport to property is around 5 USD and upto ferry terminal is around 10 USD. There are cool restaurants nearby to try if one wishes but I decided to be with host to understand the local area rather than doing movements for food. My total spend did not even exceed 100 USD per night all inclusive. Very important to note here that a nearby hotel providing all the amenities I got was offering me a room for 180 USD per night just for stay and the rest of the charges extra!! Can you believe how affordable this place is!! And trust me, things in Lungi are Damm expensive and mainly the fuel that keep the Generator on for 24 hours is a major cost that makes properties in Lungi a bit expensive as compared to properties in Freetown, I really don’t have anything negative to comment here regarding the property, but will surely wish that if Sierra Leone Government could waive off that 25 USD charges to enter and exit!! Damm…that was painful to pay!! I think it has become like my Home, Away from my Home Now!! (whenever I am in LUNGI)
